[This article was originally published in August 2009. With the exception of her endorsement of Rand Paul, I continue to admire Sarah’s leadership and stand by my prediction that her fidelity to Reagan Conservatism will make her the next President of the United States. Jeanette Pryor]

On July 3rd, 2009, Sarah Palin resigned as Governor of Alaska, and nailed the following sign to her door:
“Men Wanted For Hazardous Journey. Small wages. Bitter cold. Long months of complete darkness. Constant danger. Safe return doubtful. Honor and recognition in case of success.”

This most famous newspaper advertisement ever penned placed its original author, Sir Ernest Shackleton, in the position of selecting his Antarctic expeditionary crew from among 5,000 applicants. Comparing Sarah Palin to Shackleton might appear to stretch the limits of metaphorical license, even for an Irishwoman given to hyperbole. I contend that it pales when compared to giving a Marxist revolutionary with two weeks of Presidential experience the Peace Prize offered to Mahatma Gandhi, Mother Theresa, or Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Sarah Palin will be the next President of the United States, and the secret to her success is a characteristic she shares with all true leaders, tenacity.

In 1914, Sir Ernest set sail for the Weddell Sea in a ship that was fate-temptingly named, “Endurance.” Though Shackleton did not succeed in crossing the frozen continent, his expedition would honor the parchment of history with awe-inspiring bravery. The Endurance, belying her proud name, fell victim to the treacherous ice floes that clawed their way earlier and further north than usual. Shackleton gave the order to abandon ship, and the crew camped on the ice. “The Boss” addressed his crew: “Men, since our ship and supplies are gone, I suggest we go home.”

The evident absurdity of this proposal was apparent to all. But, ice, freezing temperatures, lack of provisions, total darkness, and absence of transportation, were just logistical details to be navigated. Shackleton’s men trusted him implicitly. They instinctively sensed in him that elusive quality, a combination of sound judgment, courage, moral rectitude, and empathy that are the unmistakable elements of a true leader.

Having made their rescue his unique goal, the fact that his endeavor was hopelessly unattainable was never considered. The crew of the Endurance lived on the ice for four months, spent five days rowing three small lifeboats across the open ocean, and set up camp on Elephant Island, a small cluster of rock and thin beach that might have been on the Moon for all its proximity to civilization. Knowing that his men would never be rescued from Elephant Island, Shackleton set out in a life boat, attempting an utterly ludicrous attempt to reach South Georgia. For fifteen days, five virtually frozen, starved men rowed preposterously towards a speck on the map.

Men cannot survive in a lifeboat for two weeks on the frozen sea, nor can they land on a speck and undertake thirty-five hours of highly technical mountain climbing, before reaching the South Georgian whalers. Nor can one arrange, in the middle of winter and a war, a successful rescue of men left on Elephant Island who, by any sane estimation, must have long passed to a better world. But you see, Shackleton had decided: “I will not let the men bloody die.”
Certain failure was simply never a factor in his calculations. Shackleton did arrive at the whaling station, did return to Elephant Island, and did not let a single man “bloody die.”

Sarah Palin has exhibited Shackleton’s tenacity of will, his constancy of purpose. She will press forward, ignoring obstacles, inspiring supporters. Her election as the next President is absolutely impossible. Not only is she consistently attacked by “the opinion makers,” but even in the Republican Party, her own ship, she is considered something of a Jonah, better to be thrown to the sea.

Only a real conservative will reach the harbor of the White House, if there is to be a new administration in 2012. The core conservative values; love of God, love of country, love of family, belief in American Exceptionalism, the need for the War on Radical Islam, and faith in our free-markets were not slogans Sarah used to get a job in Washington, but deeply held personal values. These values are the future of our country.

Sarah has already started dragging the lifeboat of American conservative principles across the frozen wasteland of a triumphant Marxist administration and her own virtually emasculated Party that wants little to do with her cargo of gritty, Reagan conservatism.

When the ice breaks up, she will put to sea in her boats with a crew of millions of supporters who were brought by her, in 2008, from a state of near-despondency, to a storm of enthusiasm that shocked the Nation and eclipsed the vapid haranguing of the opposition.

Few political figures can withstand the battering that Sarah Palin has, and yet she remains. Constantly given up for lost, she continues, following her own compass. RINO Republicans, moth-eaten, comfortable Admirals in the officers’ club, shake their heads at Sarah’s “doubtful safe return.” They powder their wigs and take pinches of snuff, raising money for the absurd chameleons we cringe to call our leaders.

Meanwhile, the people will answer Sarah’s advertisement and sign on for the “hazardous journey.” Of course, we hope the GOB, Good Ole Boys Party, will get off the ice before it melts. Hopefully, the naysayers will not remain to sink into the oblivion of history because of petty jealousy or ignorance of what Americans really want. It will be good if they have enough love of country to leave their personal effects on the ice, get on board, and help Sarah row.
Palin – Shackleton 2012.

On February 1, 2002, Khalid Sheikh Mohammed, the mastermind of September 11, cried “allahu akbar,” seized a young American journalist by the hair, and slit his throat. The writer’s name was Daniel “Danny” Pearl, the South Asia Bureau Chief of the Wall Street Journal. This brilliant reporter and fiercely loved husband, soon to be a father for the first time, was beheaded, cut into ten pieces and flung into a shallow grave because he was an American journalist, just like you.

Khalid Sheikh Mohammed’s religious and political convictions are identical to those publically professed by Terrorist Nidal Hasan. Both believed themselves justified by their radical Islamic faith.

Many of you spent the past ten days weaving a veil of deception to conceal the true face of Hasan. Instead of exposing a brother-in-arms of Danny’s butcher, you fabricated a PTSD victim in need of Prozac and Oprah. This is perhaps a good time for you to quietly watch the video of Danny’s beheading. It is time to consider if you want to use your talents to legitimize those who think that severing the heads of journalists is a duty of faith.

Dear Friends,

Please allow me to introduce you to a fantastic website
NewsReal, Keeping the Cable Guys Honest

This site is run by David Horowitz. This site, combined with the companion site, “Discovering the Networks” is the definitive formation site for solid political analysis and information. I hope you enjoy it, and come often!

Eight years ago, a young father boarded United Flight 93, waving good-bye to his two sons and lovely pregnant wife, Lisa. Shortly after the plane took off, three radical Islamic Jihadists hijacked Todd Beamer’s plane and forced the passengers to the back of the aircraft. Phone calls made to family told of the horror in New York and Washington D.C. The stewardess, the businessmen, the young girl all looked at each other. They knew they were being flown to a high-profile destination and would plunge to their deaths, killing everyone in their path.

The seamless movement by which the group passed from grasping their peril to declaring their independence is breathtaking. They wasted no time hoping for another reality, they did not lie to themselves. They accepted that, if they did not resist with the very core of their being, they and many others would perish. So they fought and saved, perhaps, thousands of lives, though they themselves did die. Todd Beamer, who never lived to hold his baby girl, breathed the Counter-Terror battle cry of 9-11 America, “Let’s Roll.”

Media and Military Dereliction of Duty: Spinning Like a Whirling Dervish

He was picked on and made fun of by his peers.

He was a loner with few friends.

He spent years listening to the harrowing tales of his patients in therapy, as they struggled with Post Traumatic Stress, due to fighting in Afghanistan and Iraq.

He was at Walter Reed.

They were going to make him go to war, him, a soldier!

He just snapped, like all the other American Shooters.

We have to ask what we might have done to cause this. We must insist that the Army train its soldiers to be kind and not tease each other.

We have to understand that some American Muslims will have a hard time defending their Country against fellow Muslims.

The US Army is doing everything it can to find out what happened and how they can notice troubled officers before they reach a stress point and resort to violence.

This is a teachable moment.

What Part of “Allahu Akbar” Do You Not Understand?

It is an insult of criminal magnitude, to the intelligence of the American people, that the Media and Military collectively present the Radical Islamic Terrorist Attack at Fort Hood, resulting in the slaughter of American Soldiers and civilians, as anything but what we all know it to be.

Any journalist or Military authority who “needs to study the situation to ascertain motive for the shooting,” needs to be instantly fired, perhaps prosecuted for endangerment of America.

So, Army, you were literally preparing soldiers to send them to fight “Terror,” and you don’t know why the man yelling “Allahu Akbar,” tried to murder a roomful of American Soldiers? I am concerned that you won’t know who to shoot at, when you do get to Afghanistan. Hint…it will be the Muslims shouting “Allahu Akbar.”

We know that Hasan is a radical Muslim Jihadist. A former fellow officer told Shepard Smith, of Fox NEWS, that Nidal had often spoken of the need for Muslims in Iraq and Afghanistan to rise up against “American invaders.” The fact that this “little red flag” went unnoticed by anything with a brain-stem in Post-9-11 America defies credibility.

So, the Islamic Cleric who knew him did not notice any “signs of extremism.” The story here is not that Hasan wasn’t, therefore, an extremist, but rather, the American Cleric’s definition of “extremism.”

We are not all Nidal Malik Hasan. Yehuda Bauer said, “Thou shalt not be a perpetrator. Thou shalt not be a victim. And thou shalt never, but never, be a bystander.”

Which one are we going to be, Media and Military, and President Barack Hussein Obama, and Anita Mao Dunn, and you, dear reader, and me? Perpetrator, by harming our Country? Or more likely a victim or bystander? Would we really rather die at the hands of Jihadis among us than speak the truth about the War waged on Americans by Radical Islamic Americans? Can we justify sending soldiers to die on foreign soil, fighting an enemy we are spineless to destroy here, in Texas?

I do not know how to avoid being a victim, because I cannot take up a weapon to defend myself against the next Radical Muslim who decides Allah wants me to die. But, even if it is only with a silly keyboard, I can, at least for now, refuse to be a bystander and be silent about the War.

I am not Nidal Malik Hasan, and Texas was not Columbine, it was the World Trade Centers, it was the Pentagon, it was a field in Pennsylvania. And Nidal Malik Hasan was not a member of the Trench-Coat Mafia – he was just another missionary of the Religion of Peace.

Barack Obama made two statements during his 2008 campaign that were particularly heart-stopping. The first was his glib response to Saddleback Pastor Rick Warren, asserting that commenting on Roe V. Wade was, “Above his pay grade.” The second was his confiding in Planned Parenthood supporters that, should his own daughters ever “make mistakes,” he would not want them to be, “punished with a baby.”

Sometime in the Spring of 2008, Bristol Palin made, to use Obama’s expression, “a mistake.” Bristol’s unplanned pregnancy involved additional suffering because, her mother being the Governor of Alaska, the pregnancy was not likely to escape public scrutiny.

Sarah Palin had been Governor for less than a year when she learned that she, herself, was pregnant. Sarah had become the youngest and first female Governor of Alaska through two hotly contested campaigns. She knew that many questioned if a mother could deal with the duties of governor in addition to those of raising a family, let alone doing so while pregnant or caring for a newborn baby. In December, Sarah and Todd were told that their child would be born with Down’s Syndrome.

Sarah and Bristol each faced a moment of truth – one that reveals the extent to which a person is willing to live according to professed convictions. Both women knew the babies would radically change their lives but, if they aborted the children, all the difficult consequences would vanish.

The Palin babies were the stuff of which opposition campaign dreams are made. They were poised for a moment at the heart of the most important question facing our Country, the question of the value of a human life.

By refusing to take the easy way out, the Palin women reminded America that a child is more important than anything. A baby, even one who is not planned, one whose birth will disrupt an “important career,” or who has special needs, is our greatest national treasure. Refusing to eliminate a human life in order to make our own life easier is not above anyone’s pay grade. It is the minimum wage we should all be willing to pay, if we wish to remain a human civilization.

Both Sarah and Bristol paid dearly for their decisions to bring their babies into this world. There was no bravado in Bristol’s public demeanor once her pregnancy became the property of the networks, yet her clear choice of life for her baby was a thunderous testament to this child’s value. To Bristol, her baby was worth whatever the cost.

Sarah’s decision to bring a child with special needs into this world argued that babies do not lose their right to life because they are “imperfect” or interfere with the lives we have planned for ourselves. While other differences between Palin and Obama were given more attention, none was more essential than their differing views of the value of a baby, of human life. For Barack Obama, Bristol Palin’s baby was “a mistake” she shouldn’t have been burdened with. For the Palin family, both babies were brought into the world because their mothers chose life, life they considered worth every personal sacrifice, life that is never a burden, but always the greatest gift.
